Gophers News · Track at MPSSAA 4A East Region Championships

The girls’ and boys’ competed at the 2 day track meet held at North County High School this Wednesday and Thursday.

The girls’ mid distance crew had an incredible week. Both the 4×400 and 4×800 set school records! Congrats to Claire Holman, Valerie Honeycutt, Emily Chen, and Saidai Stuteley for their record breaking 4×800 performance. Way to end the season strong!

The 4×400 of Rhoda Alaban-Tafon, Eniola Adeleke, Aja Dixon, and Talaya Thomas not only broke the school record, but they qualified for states. They were seeded in the slower heat and had to run an 8 second PR to earn to achieve the 4th place finish! We are so proud of them.

Rhoda Alaban-Tafon is the Region Champion in the 400m as well. We can’t wait to see what she does at states.

Huge shout out to Jayla Waters for finishing 5th in the high jump and Saidai Stuteley for finishing 8th in the long jump. Both ladies picked up individual points for the team and helped them place 9th overall.
